In the picturesque town of Grenchen, nestled at the foot of the Jura mountains in Switzerland, a legacy was born. The year was 1856 when Josef Girard and Urs Schild set out to create what would soon become a bastion of Swiss horological craftsmanship: Eterna.

Now this watch is beautiful! This Art Deco piece from Eterna will certainly enjoy some envious glances with its large black and gilt dial and tank clamshell case - I want this one myself! We estimate this watch was produced in the 1930s, so it has been very well preserved since then. At 22mm wide and over 34mm in depth, it is an unusually large tank watch for the time of production. The dial is particularly eye-catching with the rich black dial serving as the perfect platform for the gilt furnishings which include bold Arabic numerals, a bold minute track, slim leaf hands and finally a sub-seconds dial which mimics the tank shape. The reverse of the case is simply engaged with 2461057.

The watch is paired with a soft black leather strap but you could choose to pair it with a tan colour which may very well bring out the gilt elements of the dial - if this watch is of interest then we would be happy to discuss strap options.
