Hamiliton 6BB Military Pilot's Watch - 1975
A Superb Hamilton 6BB Military Pilot's Watch in Fantastic Condition with Original Military Markings and Nicely Aged Lume, Issued in 1975
By the 1970s the British military was back under some financial pressure, not least due to the ailing UK economy of the day. Smith's watch production was nearing the end of its days, and a new company, Hamilton began producing the W10 that was to succeed the Smiths version and was issued from 1973 to 1976. This watch was manual winding with a Hamilton calibre 649 movement, which was a rebadged ETA 2750 movement, with hack seconds, and in a suitably 1970s tonneau-shaped case.
What's on Offer
We are delighted to offer this Hamilton 6BB Military Pilot's Watch for sale in such superb condition. The watch offers all of the hallmarks we would expect to see including a well-preserved rich black dial with bold Arabic numerals, an outer minute track, lume-filled sword hands and a painted arrow to mark the watch as property of the MoD. The lume which is also present on the hour plots is very much still intact and has aged to a beautiful light lemon colour - the dial is encapsulated underneath shatterproof Plexiglas and is encased in a brushed stainless steel tonneau-shaped case which is also in great shape. You will note the original military markings on the caseback which again include the military arrow. This watch is running well and keeping good time, a very worthy addition to any collection and a joy to those with a penchant for military watches.
