A Very Rare Grana WW2 Military Soldiers Watch in Fantastic Condition with an MoD Dial (No Radium) c.1944 - Hugely Collectible

Highly sought after and with very few serious collectors amassing the full 12, collecting the complete set of Dirty Dozen Military watches has become something of a horological adventure not to mention an amazing journey that will yield outstanding results if achieved. The elusive Grana is the absolute holy grail for Dirty Dozen collectors, so few were produced in comparison with the other brands (roughly 1000-1500), they are particularly hard to find and when they are discovered they command high prices due to their dwindling numbers- still, if a set is ever to be complete, the Grana must be present.

What’s On Offer

If you are in the know about the Dirty Dozen family of watches, you will be well aware of the Grana and its infamous title as the rarest and most sought-after of the 12 watches, therefore we are very pleased to be able to offer this even rarer 'MoD' dial of which only a handful have ever been discovered as depicted on page 561 in Konrad Knirim's British Military Timepieces where in fact his illustrated examples are both MoD dials as opposed to the more common original radium dials!  This is only the second of that handful that we have had the pleasure of finding!

The MoD dial means that the dial was replaced at some point with a Tritium dial as opposed to the original radium dial which is ideal for the collector with concerns about the presence of radium - as well as being one of the most collectable watches in British military history!

The dial is in really beautiful condition - stark black with the synonymous white Arabic numerals and sub seconds dial at 6 o'clock. The hands still boast attractive lume which is a very even vanilla hue and corresponds with the lume on the hour plots nicely. The Grana signature, military Pheon and outer minute track complete the dial which is encapsulated underneath shatterproof Plexiglas and encased in stainless steel. The caseback bear's original military engravings read: WWW M18104 and the pheon is present here too. What a find - a beautifully preserved Grana with an incredibly rare dial in such wonderful condition - the holy grail watch for British military collectors!
