Over time, the company expanded into precision watchmaking, supplying high-quality timepieces to clients such as the British Admiralty. In 1946, Smiths collaborated with the Ingersoll Watch Company to form the Anglo-Celtic Watch Co. Ltd., producing watches in Wales. A notable achievement was in 1953 when a Smiths "De Luxe" wristwatch accompanied Sir Edmund Hillary to the summit of Mount Everest.

Despite their success, Smiths ceased watch production in 1980, shifting focus to other engineering sectors. Today, vintage Smiths watches are cherished by collectors for their historical significance and British craftsmanship
