Founded in 1848 in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, Omega has grown into one of the world’s most iconic watch brands. Renowned for precision and innovation, Omega became the official timekeeper of the Olympics in 1932 and made history in 1969 when the Speedmaster became the first watch on the Moon. From deep-sea exploration to space missions, Omega has continually pushed boundaries, producing legendary models like the Seamaster, Speedmaster, and Constellation—each a benchmark in Swiss watchmaking.

What's on Offer

This Omega Automatic, reference 162.0042, is a sleek and minimalist dress watch from the early 1970s, produced circa 1972 and powered by the Calibre 1481 automatic movement. With its bold square stainless steel case, this piece embodies the geometric design trends of the decade while maintaining the refined aesthetic Omega is known for.

Measuring approximately 34mm x 34mm, the case features clean lines and polished surfaces, paired with a subtle, silver sunburst dial adorned with applied steel baton hour markers and a crisp black handset. A date aperture at 3 o'clock adds everyday functionality, while the dial remains uncluttered and classic. The original signed Omega crystal is present and well preserved, showing only minor signs of wear consistent with age.

This example is in very good vintage condition, with light surface wear to the case and lugs but no major dents or flaws. The dial is clean, with only faint patina, and the crown appears original.

Finished with a black leather strap, this watch offers a timeless, understated wrist presence and represents excellent value in vintage Swiss watchmaking. A stylish and wearable piece from a respected era in Omega’s design history.

This watch is offered for sale as seen, as the watches service history is unknown and we are selling it on behalf of a watch collector's family who have asked us to help sell an entire collection. As there are quite a few watches to dispose of, the clients do not wish to spend unnecessary money on servicing each watch before its sold so we have priced the watches to reflect it being sold un-serviced and without a warranty but it can be arranged with our watchmaker at an additional cost if you wish. Once you have made the purchase please add a note when placing it in your basket and we will contact you to discuss this. Once serviced the watch will be given a 12-month warranty
