Eterna Watches, a renowned Swiss luxury watch brand, has a fascinating history that spans over 160 years. Founded in 1856 by Urs Schild and Joseph Girard, the company initially began as a small watchmaking workshop in Grenchen, Switzerland. Throughout the years, Eterna Watches became known for its innovative designs and exceptional craftsmanship. In 1905, the brand introduced one of its most significant inventions - the revolutionary EternaMatic movement. This self-winding mechanism set new standards in precision and reliability and became an industry benchmark. Eterna continued to thrive over the decades, captivating watch enthusiasts with its exceptional timepieces.

The Centenaire line by Eterna was first introduced in 1956 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the company. Centenaire means '100th anniversary' in French. The watches produced, featured sleek and slim designs with an extra thin automatic movement and continued to vary further down the line.

Here we have an Enterna-Matic Centenaire 61 Automatic. A lovely vintage piece with great character. The first attraction is the silver dial, compiled from a set of great polished arrow-shaped hourmakers. The dial is in generally good condition but does have some blemishes when you look through a loupe but to the naked eye it looks fine. With a little cleaning and some light TLC at service, it will look a lot nicer I'm sure. 

The case is made of stainless steel and has a screw-down caseback. With some signs of blemishes visible on the case, the watch is still overall in good condition.

The only criticism we have of the watch is that functionally, it runs intermitantly and then stops. It seems to run face down better than face up so we feel it is probably in need of a good clean and service but otherwise considering its age it seems a nice watch and our asking price reflects its overall condition and will allow you to have it serviced and still have a very reasonably priced watch or buy it for spares or a project!
