In the closing years of World War II, a basic but carefully specified model wristwatch was commissioned to members of the British armed forces by the Ministry of Defence - one of twelve watchmakers chosen to manufacture them, Cyma delivered 20,000 of these watches to the MoD in 1944 and 1945. The twelve watches later became known as the Dirty Dozen.

The Cyma is the largest of the Dirty Dozen family and as such wears particularly nicely on the wrist. This is a great example and has been exceptionally well preserved given it is over 80 years old! The dial has remained intact with all the original hallmarks one would expect to see on a Dirty Dozen watch including bold Arabic numerals, a recessed sub-second dial at 6 o'clock and the military pheon (arrow) which denotes the watch as the property of the MoD. The hands have also survived well and still boast their original lume which has aged nicely, as has the lume on the hour markers. The case is also in remarkably good condition with only the marks we would expect to see on a military field watch. The caseback displays the original military engravings which read: P25702 30702 and also include the military pheon. 

This watch is running well and keeping good time and will certainly bring much joy to any vintage or military collector - a worthy addition to any collection.
