Civitas

Civitas is a historic Swiss watch brand established in 1904 by the Moeris Watch Company, which was based in Saint-Imier, Switzerland. Moeris was known for producing high-quality mechanical timepieces during the early 20th century and gained recognition for its reliable and affordable watches.

During World War II, Civitas watches were among the various timepieces issued to the German military, particularly to members of the Wehrmacht, the unified armed forces of Nazi Germany. These military-issued watches were valued for their durability, precision, and legibility, which were essential qualities for soldiers in the field.

A distinguishing feature of these watches is the marking "D.H" engraved or stamped on the caseback. This stands for "Dienstuhr Heer," which translates to "Service Watch – Army" in German. The "Heer" was the land forces component of the Wehrmacht. The D.H marking signified that the watch was an official issue for the German Army and was often accompanied by a serial number or military inventory code.
