Beautiful 1970 Ladies Bulova Accutron with 10K Gold Filled Case and Salmon Pink Dial

Bulova, a prominent American watch brand, has a rich history that dates back to its founding in 1875 by Joseph Bulova, an immigrant from Bohemia (now part of the Czech Republic). Joseph Bulova opened a small jewellery shop in New York City, marking the beginning of the Bulova brand. The store quickly gained a reputation for quality and innovation in watchmaking. Bulova opened its first manufacturing plant in Biel, Switzerland, a hub for watchmaking excellence. This move allowed Bulova to combine Swiss craftsmanship with American innovation.

The Accutron was introduced in 1960 and was notable for its use of a tuning fork rather than a traditional balance wheel as the timekeeping element. This tuning fork technology allowed for extremely accurate timekeeping, with some models boasting accuracy to within a few seconds per month.

 This is a lovely vintage ladies' piece with some great character. We know from the engravings on the caseback that this watch was made in 1970. The case has a unique UFO-shaped case with a lovely textured pattern that is also 10 karat gold-filled. What really gives this watch a touch of class is the dial. The salmon-pink sunburst design goes excellently with the gold furniture and puts together a sleek vintage look. The mesh-style bracelet is also gold-filled and is integrated into the case. Internally the calibre 2183 tuning fork movement offers complete reliability when running.

Even though this watch is over 50 years old the condition is great. Only light signs of wear can be seen on the case and caseback. The main wear is on the bracelet which reveals the steel underneath but the gold is still present and this does not take away anything from the classiness. It is completely functional and running well.
