A Very Handsome Breitling Navitimer 92 - Model ref: A30022, in Superb Condition, Sold with Box and Papers, 1996

The origins and development of the Breitling Navitimer can be traced back to the early 1950s when Breitling, a renowned Swiss watchmaker, sought to create a timepiece specifically designed for pilots. In collaboration with the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA), Breitling aimed to develop a reliable and functional chronograph that would meet the needs of aviators. The first Navitimer was introduced in 1952, combining a slide rule bezel with a chronograph function.

This unique combination allowed pilots to perform essential calculations such as fuel consumption, airspeed, and distance during flight. The watch quickly gained popularity among pilots worldwide due to its exceptional accuracy and practicality. Over the years, the Navitimer underwent several developments and improvements. In 1969, it became one of the first automatic chronographs available on the market.

In the subsequent decades, Breitling continued to refine and innovate the Navitimer. The watch received updates in both design and mechanics to meet the demands of modern aviators. With advancements in materials such as stainless steel and sapphire crystals, durability was enhanced without compromising on style or legibility. 

What’s On Offer 

This reference was discontinued in 1996 so this fine example of the Breitling Navitimer A30022 is one of the last to ever be produced. At 38mm it is a slightly smaller reference than other Navitimer references - some would say this size is much more wearable, but of course that is subjective! The dial is a very handsome reverse panda with hour and minute counters and "running seconds" in a 6/9/12 layout. The dial features lumed tapered baton hands with arrow tips and a  chrono sweep with B counterweight. Boasting red accents on the both dial and "sloped" slide rule, and the logo is "Breitling Wings & Anchor. This watch is in superb condition showing very minimal signs of wear and it is sold with its original box and papers.  This is a statement piece, a striking watch combining form and function perfectly - we love it!
