A Rare WWII Silvana German Military Issued Wehrmacht Officers/Soldiers Watch from c.1940s in Superb Condition with Original Radium Dial and Attractive Buttery Lume.
The first watches to bear the Silvana name were made by Victor-Eugène Bahon in 1898 in La Chaux-de-Fonds, the cradle of Swiss watchmaking. The brand was officially registered in 1921 and quickly went on to enjoy success all over the world.
What’s On Offer
This WW2, German military issued watch features the typical black dial, which has a very slightly speckle of patina in the centre, with recessed sub-dial, luminous Arabic hour-markers which are still sharp, and syringe hands with beautiful buttery coloured lume which is perfectly intact.
The case is made from chrome-plated brass and is in fairly good shape with only minor signs of wear (some areas of brass showing through), whilst the domed crown has lost its chrome plating to leave the brass exposed – this is a rather happy accident as it adds a pleasant contrast to the case.
The typical screw back-plate bears the impressed D399664 issue number. A common interpretation of the 'D' code is that it stands for Dienstuhr - "Service Watch".
