A Very Rare and Simply Stunning Omega Automatic, Ultima, Chronometer in 18k Gold, Sold With Omega Extract of Archive, 1959
Omega marketed this watch to the man who placed perfection before price and "Created by perfectionists for perfectionists" and it's easy to see why when we look at this wonderful example. Omega Seamaster Deluxe "Ultima" watch. The "Ultima' was the name given by Omega's American distributor Norman Morris to what in the rest of the world was a Seamaster Deluxe with these thick hooded lugs!
What’s On Offer
We are over the moon to offer this stunning Omega Automatic Ultima Chronometer in 18k Gold for sale.
The dial is simply exquisite with the two-tone aesthetic offering a beautiful depth. The opulence continues with the applied gold furniture including arrowhead hour markers and elegant Dauphine hands, the dial is completed with an applied Omega emblem and signature all encapsulated underneath Omega-signed acrylic crystal.
Encased in an 18k gold case which has been preserved remarkably well with very few marks or wear, the pièce de résistance of this piece is of course the shrouded or hooded lugs which are incredibly characteristic and define the watch’s aesthetic. They also add to the watch's proportions quite significantly. At 34mm this watch is mid-sized but it wears much larger on the wrist thanks to the presence of these seldom-seen lugs. Of course, this watch is also chronometer-certified which means it has passed several strenuous accuracy tests conducted by an official Swiss testing bureau - not only is it beautifully formed, but it also offers superior function and accuracy, powered by the Omega calibre 505 adjusted to 5 positions and temperature.
This Omega Ultima is a very rare find, certainly in such fantastic condition, and will simply never go out of style. It is the epitome of style and elegance, don't pass this one by! The watch is sold with its original box and an Extract of Archive from Omega, which in themselves are both rare to see with these watches.
