A 1970 Rolex Datejust with matte white dial reference 1601.

This classic 70’s Datejust has a striking white dial with stick markers and tritium filled hands and lume dots that are in beautiful original condition. Both the hands and the lume dots show no visible signs of lume degradation. The classic stepped dial on this early Rolex DateJust is marked ‘T Swiss T’ as you would expect from a watch of this era and we think that it is this combination of the white and the "step", pie-pan styling on the dial that really sets these early models apart from the later and flatter dialled variants. 

It is a long time since we have seen a Datejust reference 1601 of this age in this great condition. The watch case has been polished lightly in the past but remains in excellent thick condition as does the white gold fluted bezel which shows little signs of wear. The classic jubilee bracelet is again in amazing condition but from the reference numbers it would appear to be an aftermarket model, but never the less looks perfect on this watch. The bracelet is in exceptional condition with minimal stretch.
