An Omega Pakistani Air Force military issued watch 'Seamaster' Ranchero - 'PAF'.

The Pakistan Air Force ordered these stainless steel Omega Seamaster's in the late 1950’s. These Omega Seamaster's are really Omega Rancheros, but the 'PAF' didn’t want Ranchero on the dial and so although everything about these watches, case, movement etc. is a Ranchero, Omega made them with Seamaster written on the dial. A very good looking watch that has a matte black dial with lume hour markers and sword hands.

This Omega ref. CK2996 Seamaster was issued to the Pakistani Air Force in c.1959 a stainless-steel watch with a manual winding 285 Calibre movement. Painted luminous dart indexes with "Explorer style" Arabic quarters starting from 3 and rising to 12. With minute divisions, central sweep seconds alongside luminous steel dauphine hands.

The case itself is in great condition with slight signs of wear, which is to be expected from an issued watch that has likely seen plenty of action. The black dial is in great condition and luminous markings and inserts to the hands have aged to a faded yellow. The tritium hour markers still retaining their original shape but do not glow, but the hands under UV light, still glowing a vivid green. Topping this wonderful piece off is the original signed Omega and Seamaster markings located on the dial, with the funky and correct “coat hanger S”.

The case back is correctly marked with a Pakistan Air Force "PAF" engraving and the movement number, which was only inscribed on these military issued watches and then a "Waterproof" engraving. This particular watch as we have said is the Ranchero iteration "Seamaster", so the correct model reference CK2996 appears inside the case back. It has a central sweep second hand and the “Explorer” style dial similar to its big brother the Railmaster. The famous broad arrow Ranchero hands were replaced with the dauphine hands by Omega at the factory before delivery to the PAF.

There is also the correct engraving, “PAF” to the movement. So, all in all this is a very nice original example of these hard to find watches. So, buy this example with confidence as it has been checked over and serviced by John Senior who many will know through the forums as an authority on military issued watches.

As we said above the case back is engraved with PAF and serial number 17xxx123, but please note we have another PAF Seamaster listed with sequential movement/case-back serial number: 17xxx122
