A Fantastic and Very Much Sought-After Omega WW2 Dirty Dozen Military Issued Watch in Original Condition with Military Markings

During 1944 and 1945, twelve watchmakers (Buren, Cyma, Eterna, Grana, JLC, Lemania, Longines, IWC, Omega, Record, Timor, and Vertex) produced a total of approximately 150,000 of these almost identical timepieces. As these watches became highly sought after by collectors over the ensuing decades, they became known as "The Dirty Dozen" - earning this nickname from the 1964 war film of the same moniker. Members of this exclusive club are now in constant demand as few remain in good and original condition, and as production volumes differed widely across the 12 wartime manufacturers. Omega made approximately 25000 of these watches.

What's on Offer

A fine example of an Omega Dirty Dozen in original condition, boasting all the hallmarks we expect to see from these military tool watches including Arabic numerals, a recessed subdial at 6 o'clock and the broad arrow denoting the watch as the property of the MoD. The original sword hands still contain their original lume which has aged to a pale green and corresponds with the remaining lume on the hour plots. There are a couple of blemishes to the very outer perimeter of the dial however this is barely noticeable to the naked eye and is magnified somewhat by our professional camera lens - still, these are signs of the watch's authenticity and age, after all - we cannot expect to get to this age and weather a war without some cuts and bruises! This is a really fantastic watch in beautiful original condition, the caseback, of course, bears the military markings we expect to see including the broad arrow again. These watches are becoming more difficult to source and the prices are creeping up, now is the time to buy!
