Introduced in the 1940s, the Weems watch is named after Lt.Cdr P.V. Weems who was a well-known aviator, navigator and instructor at the Naval Officer School at Annapolis, Maryland, in the U.S.A. The watch featured a rotating bezel which allowed pilots to synchronize their watches to the second with a radio time signal without affecting the movement of the watch hands. Such precision was critical for accurate navigation and mission success during an era when GPS was decades away from invention. The Jaeger-LeCoultre Weems watch not only represented a significant technological advancement but also symbolized a fusion of engineering prowess and adventurous spirit.

The Weems watch was also produced by Omega, Longines, Zenith and Movado and it is believed only around 7000 were issued to the RAF.

What's on Offer

This LeCoultre Weems watch is extremely rare and especially in such incredible condition - it was produced at the beginning of WW2 so more than likely saw live action! The dial has aged to a nice antique yellow and features bold Arabic numerals and blued steel hands. The watch features a moveable outer bezel which is set to the second hand to calculate longitude to aid navigation. The caseback is engraved with 67888. This is known to be one of the most collectable RAF wristwatches on the market and we are very pleased to be able to offer it for sale in such superb condition, this really will set any aviation or military watch lover's heart racing!
