Vintage Eterna-Matic date Gold Plated Dress Watch with ETA 12824 Calibre Movement circa 1977

Eterna Watches, a renowned Swiss luxury watch brand, has a fascinating history that spans over 160 years. Founded in 1856 by Urs Schild and Joseph Girard, the company initially began as a small watchmaking workshop in Grenchen, Switzerland. Throughout the years, Eterna Watches became known for its innovative designs and exceptional craftsmanship. In 1905, the brand introduced one of its most significant inventions - the revolutionary EternaMatic movement. This self-winding mechanism set new standards in precision and reliability and became an industry benchmark. Although this Eterna-Matic has seen some wear over the years, it is still a unique vintage piece with some great character. The gold plated still presents its nice shine but has seen obvious wear including the stainless steel caseback. 

The dial once originally silver has become weathered with age as seen in the images the surface has become discoloured but the original gold-coloured hour plots and hands appear to be in good condition and look great.

The faded caseback engravings reveal this watch was produced in 1977 and features an ETA 12824 calibre movement.
