WWW Longines "Greenlander" Military 'Dirty Dozen' Watch - Cal-12.68Z

Rare c.1945 Longines ‘Greenlander’ WWW 'Dirty Dozen' British WWII military watch.

Every watch ages differently, and not always well. That's not the case here: the caramel tones that jump out here are a marvel in the world of watches, and take this collectable masterpiece a step further. Deep pumpkin patina across the hands and hour plots, crisp stepped case and a jet black dial, this is a stunning example of a 'Dirty dozen' watch. Looking at the cathedral hands, the rich orange strikes against the fresh white chapter ring, Arabic numerals and obsidian dial. Pristine vintage condition all round, particularly on the case and lugs which retain smooth finishes and sharp edges.

Known for it's larger stepped bezel 38mm case, it stands out from the other 11 military collectables by size alone. This Longines production piece for the Ministry of Defence during WWII was nicknamed ‘The Greenlander’ and has become well sought-after due to low initial production; only 5,000 were ever made. No signs of rust or damage to hands, case, dial or glass. Recently serviced by a top UK military horologist (John Senior).
