Cyma WWW WW2 military watch with the Calibre 234 mechanical hand wind movement. These particular watches were designed specifically for forces personnel in the Second World War between 1941 and 1943 and Cyma were one of the ‘dirty dozen’ manufacturers that were suppliers to the MOD.This particular watch is in excellent overall condition and has the typical design features that were specified to them in the design.

Case and Crown

This is the original more substantial matt stainless steel case with brushed lugs and sides and polished solid bezel and what we think is a crown that has been a replacement at a historic service. The back is etched with the correct markings of WWW P24239 - 29239 and the arrow logo. This watch is actually engraved with the name ‘J Boardman’.

A very reliable source for further information about the “dirty dozen” watches can be found at

Overall the case is in superb condition with some very small blemishes most of which can only be seen through a loupe although there are a couple of dinks on the lugs and at the outer edge of the bezel at the 4 o’clock position. Much of this you would expect for a military issue watch of this age that could well have seen action in WW2.

Dial, Hands and Glass

The watch has the Cyma signed matt black dial which has started to grey slightly with age and the arrow logo between the centre and 12 o’clock position. The white Arabic numerals at the hour positions have started to cream slightly with age and the accompanying luminous dots have darkened to a grey colour although can still be clearly seen however a couple have chips and the one at 7 o’clock is missing. The dial has the sub dial seconds display at the 6 o’clock position. This has the slightly slimmer baton hour and minute hands have long solid luminous inlays which remain intact but have some patina at the edges particularly the minute hand. We believe that the hour hand is original to the watch but think the minute hand has been replaced at a historic service as this appears to be a guilt hand.

The dial, hands and plastic glass are all in excellent condition for a 1940’s watch but the hands and dial are showing some signs of patina.

This watch has the Calibre 234 mechanical hand wind movement with 15 jewels which, as with all military watches, is well known for its resilience and good time keeping. This particular movement is numbered 39****.

The movement is running strong as you would expect and comes with a 12 months guarantee.

The watch comes on a new tan leather NATO style strap with stainless steel pin buckle. If you would prefer a different strap please contact us to discuss this.

In Conclusion

This is an excellent example of the Cyma WWW WW2 military watch which for a watch dating to the 1940’s is in great condition with only a couple of very small dinks to the case and the hands and dial are showing some small signs of patina. The overall appearance is of a very easy to read watch by its simplicity but retains its classic military style features.
