A Very Rare Jumbo Tudor Oyster Prince Date Day, Model Ref: 7017/0 in Superb Condition, c.1970

Tudor Watches, a renowned Swiss watch brand, has a rich history that dates back to 1926 when Hans Wilsdorf, the same visionary behind Rolex, founded it. The aim was to create high-quality timepieces with the reliability and precision of Rolex but at a more accessible price point. In the early years, Tudor established itself as a reliable and robust brand, supplying watches to professionals in various industries including divers and military personnel.

During the 1970s, Tudor faced challenges due to the quartz crisis, which led to a decline in mechanical watch sales. However, the brand made a remarkable comeback in 2009 under new leadership. It repositioned itself as an independent entity within the Rolex family while maintaining its commitment to quality craftsmanship.

Today, Tudor is celebrated for its distinctive design language inspired by vintage models from its archives. Its timepieces continue to offer exceptional reliability and precision due to their rigorous testing process.

What’s On Offer

Produced from 1969 onwards, the Oyster Prince Date+Day is one of the largest TUDOR watches in the Prince line.  The example of reference 7017/0 on offer here has a 37.5 mm steel case. Its screw-down waterproof case back is inscribed “Montres TUDOR S.A. Geneva Switzerland Patented” on the inside. On the outside, the case back is engraved “Original Oyster Case by Rolex Geneva”. The self-winding movement with date and day mechanisms is A.S. Calibre 1895. The dial is a stunning silver sunburst and features baton hour markers and luminescent dots beside the hour markers on the minute track around the circumference of the dial, luminescent baton hands and a large seconds hand. The date is visible in an aperture at 3 o’clock and the day of the week in a large aperture at 12 o’clock.

This watch is in superb condition with barely any signs of noticeable wear, it has clearly been meticulously looked after and it shows! This JUMBO-sized reference is rather rare to find and especially in such good condition, so we are very pleased to be able to offer this watch for sale.
