Fabrique de Montres Rotary was established at La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland by Moise Dreyfuss in 1895. By the 1920s family members Georges and Sylvain Dreyfuss began importing Rotary watches to Britain, which was to become the company's most successful market. Until 2014 Rotary remained in the ownership of the Dreyfuss family through Dreyfuss Group Holdings. It is now owned by a Chinese company. What’s on offer

Here we have a simply stunning example of an oversized silver WW1 officers trench watch with an almost unblemished, white porcelain dial with painted black Roman numerals and a red '12' for ease of reading. Elegant Cathedral style hands with original Radium lume infill and a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o'clock! All of this is housed in a superb hallmarked silver case with screw top and bottom to make the case more waterproof which is of the style/design of Francois Borgel.

The case is marked with London Assay office Zodiac mark and also .925 for sterling silver and then the renowned casemakers mark "SD" which is the mark for Sylvain Dreyfuss which later became Rotary Watches! The watch also has the 'u' letter year mark for 1915 which is correct if the watch was likely purchased by an English military officer to wear during the Great War!

The watch looks to have a replacement gold coloured crown which is period correct but likely not accurate as we think the original would have probably been an 'onion' style and larger. Nevertheless we think the crown suits the watch but this could be replaced if you wished! The watch was recently serviced by our watchmaker and is running well and keeping good time and will come with a VWS guarantee. The dial although stunning does show some hairline marks but only noticeable through a loupe but we thought it only right to let you know!

What more can we tell you, a stunningly elegant watch steeped in history and ready to be used and enjoyed for another 100 years hopefully!
