Another Fantastic Find! This Excellent condition 1991 Rolex Submariner Date Reference 16610 - pre-ceramic bezel, full set box and papers

The Rolex Submariner is not a watch which needs introducing. Arguably one of the most sought-after and beloved timepieces of all time, there is no mistaking this watch. Introduced in 1954, further popularised by James Bond in 1962, and now a timeless piece of design and horological mastery, the Submariner is a collectable and wearable classic which is here to stay. Potentially a cracking 30th birthday present for someone next year as a birth year watch (1991-2021). 

This particularly fine 1991 example of the Submariner features the earlier aluminium bezel, making for a jet black polished look to the bezel. Later editions look much more matte: in 2008, the ceramic bezel came in, making this rare not only by age, but by manufacture too. The date aperture at 3:00 features a magnifying cyclops, and the dial is clearly recognised by the mercedes hour hands, rounded hour plots and 'lollipop' seconds hand. 

What's on offer

This particular example of the Rolex Oyster Perpetual Submariner 16610 has been meticulously cared for since its production in 1991. Whilst it has been worn, and this is visible in extremities, this wear is extremely minimal and purely aesthetic. The case surface, lugs and edges all retain their original crisp factory polish, with hardly anything visible even when closely inspected under a jeweller's loupe or bright light. Truly, in terms of condition, this seems more like a new Rolex than a vintage piece from 1991.

The watch truly is a full set: original chronometer guarantee wax seal, original swing price tag from shop (matching serial number with the watch), chronometer certificate and instruction booklet/Rolex diving booklet, and even the calendar and anchor.
