A Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust, model, 1603 from c.1970. The watch comes on a steel Jubilee bracelet, and has an excellent, elegant black dial, all in superb condition!

Case and Crown

This stainless steel cased watch has a fluted bezel, screw in back and Rolex signed screw down crown.

Overall the case and crown are in excellent condition with only some very slight marks on the case that are only visible through a loupe and would easily polish out should you wish. We do not machine polish any of our watches unless it is absolutely necessary and this one is no exception! Any marks you can see in the photographs are insignificant to the naked eye but hopefully you will appreciate; look worse in the photos as our photos are taken at very close proximity and magnify many times even the most minute marks. We would describe this watchcase as in almost mint condition.

Dial, Hands and Glass

This model 1603 has the beautiful, signed original black dial that would appear to be quite rare and has silver baton hour markers with luminous dots to the tips that are going a beautiful caramel colour with age and the Rolex crown at 12 o’clock. Round the edge of the dial are small minute marks. This version also has a date Cyclops aperture.

The hour and minute hands are the stick type with luminous inlays.

The dial, hands and glass are all in excellent condition with no visible blemishes.

This watch carries the reliable and accurate Calibre 1570 mechanical automatic movement with 26 jewels and is adjusted 5 positions and temperature and has a 48h power reserve. The serial number 283**** dates the watch to circa 1983.

As you would expect the watch is running strong and true and is keeping excellent time. The watch will come with a 12 months guarantee for additional peace of mind when sold, after we have had it serviced!

The watch comes on a Rolex signed Jubilee bracelet, reference 62510H with 555B end pieces.

The bracelet marked CL10, like the rest of the watch is in excellent (almost perfect) condition.

Box and Papers

There is, what we believe, the original green Rolex box and although this watch hasn’t its original paperwork, it does have a Rolex service guarantee from January 2006.

A detailed invoice together with our written warranty will be provided at the point of sale.

In Conclusion

Overall this watch is in excellent condition and we would say it seems not to have been worn much since its last visit to Rolex, judging by the condition. The size of the case and appearance is such that either a lady or a gentleman could comfortably wear this watch.
