A 2016 Omega Seamaster Professional 300m - Chronometer Certified - Model Reference 188.8.131.52.01.003 - Caliber 2500
A beautiful example of Omega's most sought-after modern watch: the Omega Seamaster 300. Now discontinued, this black non-wave dial has become even more desirable due to its production having stopped. Designed in homage to the 1957 Seamaster range, the choice of countless underwater professionals, this beautifully functional watch combines the best of heritage design and horological passion with modern watchmaking and technological superiority. This particular example comes with box, papers, instruction booklet, and original warranty card.
Powered by Omega's 2500, the watch reflects the original accuracy for which the Seamaster range became known, updated to modern standards. Featuring a co-axial movement with rhodium plating, the automatic movement has an impressive 48-hour power reserve. It is chronometer-certified by COSC (Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres), meaning that the highest Swiss authority on timekeeping have deemed the watch to be accurate and precise to the utmost degree.
Sat in a 41mm solid stainless steel body, the case achieves some very interesting aesthetic effects thanks to its combination of polished and matte-brushed intricacies, most notably on the beautifully bevelled lugs. The ceramic bezel rotates unidirectionally, allowing for quick adjustment and timing underwater. The notched bezel grips allow for operation through gloves/wetsuits no matter the conditions, and features a helium escape valve at 10 so as to ensure that pressure is evenly distributed throughout the case as the watch surfaces from the depths (up to 300m, as the name implies).
The dial, set in a sapphire crystal, is clearly built with underwater legibility in mind: striking white hour plots set in raised polished rings, skeletal steel hands, and a glaring red line at the tip of the seconds hand. That being said, the simplicity of the design is what makes it so beautiful, achieving a wonderful contrast between black, silver and matte tones which shimmer as the face turns through the light. The date wheel at 3:00 features polished numbers, making it highly visible without the need for a chunky magnifying cyclops (typically seen on date-function watches).
