A Very Rare and Sought-After Seamaster 300 With Thin Bezel - The Reference 165.014-63sc, With its Original Bracelet and End Pieces. Very Well Preserved, One From Our Personal Collection. First Sold in 1965 and comes with its Original Box, Papers and an Extract of the Omega Archive.
The Seamaster is the longest-running product line still produced by Omega. It was introduced in 1948 and was loosely based upon designs made for the British Royal Navy towards the end of World War II. The original Seamaster's key feature was an O-ring gasket used to provide its waterproof seal.
In 1957, when scuba diving was the en vogue sport, Omega rolled out a trio of 'Master' watches - The Speedmaster, The Railmaster, and The Seamaster 300. Unlike its predecessor, the Seamaster 300 was specifically designed for underwater use.
What’s On Offer
The Seamaster 300 is still a robust-looking watch, even when compared to its modern counterparts. Its substantial proportions, chunky sword hands, and partial Arabic numerals combine to offer all of the hallmarks of this iconic vintage Omega diver reference. This particular 'thin bezel' example is not nearly as readily available as its Bakelight counterpart and therefore is very much sought after. The thin bezel has been repainted at some point over the years but this must have been a considerably long time ago as it has clearly given way again. This is part and parcel of buying vintage watches, their nuances afford them an individual charm.
The Omega bloodline runs throughout this watch from the signed dome crown and etched Hippocampus on the caseback to the original Omega signed bracelet with reference 7912 and No.6 end pieces with a folding clasp and the HF (Huguenin Freres) case, a manufacturer used by Omega during this period for both Seamaster and Speedmaster watches.
The lume on both the hands and the hour plots has aged to a beautiful caramel colour which comes alive against the black of the dial, the partial Arabics also correspond in colour giving the dial a really stunning vintage look.
This particular watch has been a part of Javid's (VWS Owners) personal collection for years which is a definite salute to the quality of the watch and how well it has been preserved, it is in wonderful vintage condition. This watch is supplied with its original box and papers AND an extract from the Omega Archive which is so rare to find. The watch was purchased directly from the original owner's son by Javid for his personal use and as a special birth year watch!
Sadly, Javid has decided it is time to let someone else enjoy this beautiful watch as it hasn't more recently had the wrist time it deserves, so we are very reluctantly offering it for sale. This is an absolute beauty, really collectable and still very wearable, every vintage watch collector worth their salt should have one of these in their collection!
Be quick as these watches are rarely found for sale with the original bracelets and end pieces. These items alone fit a few different and very collectable Omega models and command premiums of up to £4000.00 for them alone! But here at VWS, born out of a true collecting passion, we don't like to separate watches from the original bracelets for the sake of "extra profit"!
