The Omega, reference 165.070 was first introduced in 1969 as part of the ‘International Collection’ within Omega’s different ‘Collections’. The ‘Omega Genève’ range, as does this, tended to have a clean linear design with a three-part case (including the glass), and straight lugs. The ‘Genève Collection’ was produced all the way through to the 1970s and was termed to start with as some of the low to mid-range models, although the movements in some of these were of the mid-range there were also some that are now quite rare as they were Chronometer rated and certified, but even the none chronometer rated ones like the one we have, were extremely well made with 24 jewel movements that have proved to be great watches as they have stood the testament of time (pardon the pun)!  

What’s On Offer 

The sharp, shiny, and unpolished round case is impeccable as is the screw-down back with only the odd scratch to speak of, and this houses the silvered, and satin-finished dial, which also has a sunburst finish. Applied hour indexes that have black inserts to their centre along with tritium dots at their tips to increase visibility. Black outer minute divisions, polished pointed baton hands with tritium luminous inserts, and sweep center seconds, which are also in fantastic condition. The watch retains its original Omega signed crystal but the crown is a replacement and is unsigned, but this can easily be replaced, should you wish!

The watch is running a caliber 552 mechanical automatic movement, 24 jewels, lever escapement, mono-metallic balance, running at 19,800 BPH, with Incabloc shock absorber, which our watchmaker has just serviced. The movement is numbered and signed and we have dated the watch from the movement number to c.1971... So if you are looking for that special birth year watch for a 50th or an anniversary, then this is for you.
