In excellent vintage condition, a 1954, oversized Omega 14k Gold Dress watch with a Calibre 283 manually-wound movement and a waffle-texture white dial.
This Omega is a stunning, honest example of a solid gold vintage dress watch which has been properly cared for since its production in 1954. It features a lug design reserved for higher-end, refined dress watches in the 1940s and 1950s, with a 'detached' effect to mark their boundary with the bezel. The dial features raised solid gold hour batons, sat atop a waffle-textured pattern which creates a matte effect in contrast with Omega's logo and the pointed hands, all gilt.
The movement, a manually-wound Omega Calibre 283, is known for its accuracy and reliability. First introduced in 1940, it was used by Omega for 23 years in production, helping them to earn the reputation they enjoy today. It was built to have an impressive 45-hour power reserve (at the time, this was groundbreaking), and makes use of 17 jewels.
