Great Value - Hamilton 'W10' English Armed Forces Watch Engraved Caseback Markings, W10-6645-99 - 17 jewel Hamilton Caliber 649 Movement

This 1973, issued watch was one of the last mechanically wound military watches and the design hadn’t changed much since WW2. The monocoque case was designed for strength and the simplistic dial for clarity, the size is substantial enough for modern everyday wear. The ‘T’ marking on the dial denotes a tritium applied lume, the original 1970s material used to make dials luminescent.

The stainless steel case back is engraved with W10-6645-99. W10 signifies that it was issued to the British Army, 6645 is the NATO Supply Classification for a time-keeping instrument, and 99 is the country code for the United Kingdom.

The movement is a 17 jewel Hamilton 649, which is based on an ETA 2750 and features hacking seconds – important for synchronisation whilst on missions!

What’s On Offer

Hamilton - a (British Army) military issue wristwatch. The watch back is also marked /I\ and 2437/73, making it the 2,437th watch of 1973. The watch is in unbelievably good condition - it hardly looks worn! Having retained its original brushed finish and sharp edges, the glass is unmarked and there are no visible blemishes to speak of on the case, case back, or dial. The original lume is intact and has worn well with an even fade to deep ivory.

A real stylish wearer with the added bonus of being steeped in military history, we have paired this watch with a NATO strap but it would look equally great on a leather strap or a Bonklip style bracelet for a more individual look. These watches make for an affordable way to get into genuine military issued watches and with the prices increasing for originals like this example, now is the time to buy.

NB. The watch was fully serviced by the renowned watchmaker John Senior in January 2021.
