A signature Breitling masterpiece, the Navitimer has been the preferred choice of watch for pilots around the world since its inception in 1952. Originally designed as an extremely accurate chronometer-certified watch with a mechanical chronograph function, the watch's design and spirit live on to this day in examples such as this. Featuring its patented Slide Rule tachymeter bezel, allowing users to calculate flight times and fuel consumption in a flick of the wrist, the Navitimer survives due to its meticulous, technical functionality and its ensuing iconic looks.
The Navitimer 'World' Chronograph is so named due to its extra GMT function: the central chronograph hand is doubled up by an extra red tipped hour hand, allowing two time zones to be displayed simultaneously, ideal for those who like taking to the skies. This edition features a beautiful, matte silver dial which is layered by blue, black, and red Arabic numerals around the intricate tracking bezel. As the dial slopes into the chamfered bezel, the iconic 'B' logo on the end of the chronograph hand beautifully mirrors the reflective sub-register and hour batons and hands. There is a date window at 3:00, a 3-hour variation at 6:00, a continuous seconds dial at 9:00, and a 30-minute variation at 12:00. The anti-glare sapphire protective crystal makes the face sharp and vivid in any setting.
What's on offer
The watch is in excellent condition with a handsome, blemish-free silver dial. The case edges have retained their factory sheen and all points, bevelled edges, and crown and pushers have remained sharp. Supplied with a blue Hirsch leather strap on a Hirsch buckle, an official Breitling rubber strap on Breitling deployant clasp, and a 'Bob' brown leather strap with original Breitling pin buckle. The watch comes with a set of original boxes and paperwork, including; a chronometer certificate, an international warranty card (dated November 2010), the original glass protector stickers with barcode, operational instructions, and a slide rule calculation converter. The watch was serviced by our watchmaker for the previous owner (our client) who had owned the watch from new. It runs well as you would expect it to after a recent service!
