Benrus - Orange Dial Dive Watch in Steel with Engraved Steel Bezel - c.1970s

Benrus 'Orange' Steel Diving Watch with Steel Engraved Bezel, c.1970 on an Original Steel Benrus Bracelet, Stylish, Sporty, and Robust.

Benrus History. Benrus was founded in New York by Benjamin Lazrus and his two brothers and took its name from the first syllable of his name and the last syllable of the family name. The three young men combined $5,000 in savings and started importing Swiss watch movements and casing them in New York City. They headquartered the fledgling company in the iconic Hippodrome building, nestled in the jewelry district and what is known to still be the “heart” of the City. Today, the company’s headquarters remain in the same location.

What’s On Offer

This sporty number from Benrus with steel engraved bezel is a stylish everyday wearer for sure. The punchy orange dial boasts applied striped hour markers and faceted signature plaque adding depth to the sporting aesthetic. The date cyclops at 9 o'clock and chunky pencil hands finish off a robust-looking watch perfectly, especially with the big triangle on the minute hand and the sweeping ornate second's hand.

The lume is turning a beautiful vanilla hue and the outer black rehaut bezel with white minute markers is sharp. The crown stands proud, as one would expect of a tool watch for ease of use, and along with the engraved outer bezel, used to count down when diving, gives the watch the illusion of more sizeable proportions. The watch is in excellent condition with only minor signs of wear, we have it on its original steel bracelet, however, we have also paired it with a rather sporty NATO-style strap to give a different look, both look great.

The watch has just come back from our watchmaker after having the movement completely overhauled so we are confident giving it our 12-month guarantee for your peace of mind.
