The year 1945 saw the birth of the Datejust, the first self‑winding wrist chronometer to indicate the date in a window on the dial. A watch of great distinction, the Datejust was equipped with a Jubilee bracelet created especially for it and a fluted bezel, making it immediately recognisable as a Rolex. With its timeless aesthetics, functions and rich history, the Datejust is a watchmaking icon and one of the brand's most recognizable watches.

This 1970s Rolex Datejust is in superb vintage condition and is supplied with its original box, papers and even its original purchase receipt. The dial has been well preserved over the years and remains blemish free. Furnished with applied baton markers and housing a date wheel underneath a cyclops, with elegant faceted stick hands and a central seconds hand, the dial design is quintessential and will simply never go out of style. This particular watch boasts an engine-turned bezel, which is only found on this reference and is a move away from the more classic fluted or smooth bezels that we see on Datejusts more often. The timeless dial design, engine-turned bezel and the Jubilee bracelet are a classic and iconic combination.
