A stunning watch which sits proud on the wrist thanks to its large 45mm case, it's easy to see why Panerai has become such a favourite amongst modern collectors (Paneristi). The watch demonstrates an attention to detail rarely seen in modern watch design, and has a very distinctive and instantly recognisable aesthetic. Chunky arabic numerals at 12 and 6 and a stylish sub-seconds register at 9:00 make for an eye-catching dial which doesn't get too busy, even when taking the date eye at 3:00 into account, easily legible by its magnifying cyclops. 

Panerai, in full Officine Panerai, an Italian subsidiary of Swiss watchmakers Richemont, became famous during WWII when, together with Rolex, they put together watches to be worn for diver frogmen of Mussolini's Decima Flottiglia MAS. Though Mussolini's legacy is not much to be proud of, Panerai themselves have a long and impressive history of truly revolutionary watchmaking. They use, the Swiss Chronometer-certified automatic OP6714, with a 42-hour power reserve. 

The case, made of polished stainless steel, is larger than most at 45mm. That being said, it's not a beast to wear thanks to its elegant, simplistic dial design and use of leather rather than a stainless steel bracelet and wire style lugs reminiscent of the original 1938's! The crown and case are a stunning, unique design, making use of Panerai's iconic 'fish' logo shape. All of this is protected by a thick, reinforced sapphire crystal. There were only 1500 of these produced, this being #274, confirmed by the case back. 

What's on offer

Purchased in 2008 and kept in like-new condition since then, this Panerai is only one owner from new. The previous owner preserved this watch perfectly, and a more complete set does not exist. This comes with all warranty, chronometer certification and instruction documents, inner box, outer box and even the original Panerai cardboard container box that it was shipped in.
