A Tritium "Swiss - t-25" Dialed - Rolex Submariner Date Diver’s Watch - Ref. 16610 - c. 1991 - A true FULL SET!

First produced in 1953, the Rolex Submariner was the first diver’s wrist watch that remained waterproof to a depth of 100 metres (330 feet), following on from the invention of the Oyster Case, the world’s very first waterproof watch, back in 1926.

A classic and much-loved model, the Submariner, reference 16610, has earned its place in the Rolex Hall of Fame as an underwater survival tool with a design entirely dictated by the practical needs of divers. Since 1953, the Submariner has evolved through various models, each one endowed with more technical features to improve overall performance while maintaining the Submariner's instantly recognisable, pared-back classic style.

This 1991 model features Mercedes style hands, a lollipop sweep seconds hand, date cyclops at 3 o’clock and a black rotating diver’s bezel that matches the original crisp black tritium dial.

This piece is set on a full Oyster bracelet which can be adjusted to size and fits comfortably over a diving suit should you ever wish to use it for the purpose it was intended!

Powered by a Rolex automatic calibre 3135 movement, the watch has a 48-hour power reserve and is waterproof to an impressive 1000 ft (300 metres).

What’s On Offer 

This piece was first sold new in the UK by Gales Ltd, of Milton Keynes, on 11 May 1991. 

One of the most complete sets we’ve ever had the pleasure to own and now offer to you. This beautiful example of a gent’s Rolex Submariner Date is sold with its original inner and outer box (with shop stickers still intact on the sides), papers and booklets, swing tag, swing seal and Rolex anchor on a chain, certifying the watch is waterproof and still in its original Rolex packaging. Indeed the booklets don't even show signs of being handled.

The watch is supplied with its original warranty certificate along with a Rolex service card and invoice dated June 2018, confirming that the watch received a manufacturer’s service that included new glass, bracelet, crown and bezel insert - the original hands and tritium dial, however, have not been replaced thankfully. The watch looks barely to have been worn since this last service, so it is in absolutely pristine condition.

A true collectors set as some people like to term finds like this!
