A Rare Geneve Dial Hamilton 6bb RAF Issued Watch with Low 1974 Issue Number!

Hamilton produced for the RAF under the 6bb mark between 1973 and 1976. The watch succeeded the earlier Smiths production piece and preceded the CWC production pieces.

The ‘T’ marking on the dial stand for tritium, the original 1960s and 1970s material used to make dials luminescent, a mark that guarantees the originality of the dial.   Fixed lug bars as typical of military pieces, notably also present in the ‘Dirty Dozen' collection.

What’s On Offer

A Rare 1974, Geneve signed dial, RAF issued British Military Watch with its mechanical hand-wound movement and steel tonneau case, with broad arrow military dial and issue engravings, 6bb/5238290 on the case back. The dial has white Arabic numerals, which are typical of most military-issued watches. These watches also have a sweep second hand with a 'hack' feature and steel luminous hands, which is again fairly typical of vintage military watches.

For this to have survived so long in this condition is extremely rare; this is a true gem. The marking 'Geneve' on the dial is much scarcer than the versions without and as such this watch would make a superb addition to any collection.

The dial is in the original condition right the way down to the tritium hour plots which are remarkably intact. Perfect condition sword hands, with wonderful lume discolouration, as have the hour plots, minute tracking ring, and broad arrow denotation all typical of military pieces.

The case too is in new old stock condition, with only a couple of minute blemishes from storage, etc. as these watches were never sold with a box of their own (as is the case for all Ministry of Defence issued pieces).

Altogether, and as you can see from our photos, this watch is a stunning example so be quick otherwise you will miss this rare iteration of the more common W10 Hamiltons!
