February 2020 Tudor Geneve Black Bay Heritage 79363N Chronograph in Steel and Gold - full set box and papers.

Based on the beloved Tudor Submariner 7924, first made in 1958, Tudor have released modern heritage editions which have become enormously popular and successful. Known as the 'Black Bay', the range won the 2013 Revival Prize at the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie in Geneva the year after its launch, deservedly so if you ask us! Instantly distinguishable by the 'snowflake' hour hands, the Black Bay heritage range has seen many different releases in different colour palettes and styles, all of them well-received. These chunky hour hands were popularised by the French Navy who were issued these in the 1970s. Production of these began in 1958 with standard Rolex-style Mercedes hands, and progressed in the 1970s to the snowflake variant seen here. A sister company to Rolex, Tudor initially collaborated heavily with the watchmaking giants, a partnership which is still very visible in the case and bracelet design seen here.

This jet black and gold variant is stunning thanks to a contrast between the gilt and black portions on the dial. This is particularly noticeable in the sub-registers at 3:00 and 9:00 which make the watch a 'reverse panda' chronograph design, a desirable trait of many chronograph watches. The classic Snowflake hour hand design matches the raised circular hour plots, capped in polished steel to distinguish them. There is a date eye at 6:00, set by the crown (screw-down) at 3:00. The chronograph, with its 45-minute and hour variations, is set and reset by the twin pushers at 2:00 and 4:00. The fixed yellow gold bezel houses a matt black anodised aluminium disc with tachymetric scale and yellow gold markings for distance/time calculations. For such a busy watch in terms of design and functionality, there is a simplistic charm to its face. The watch is powered by a COSC-certified Automatic Tudor MT5813 with an immense 70-hour power reserve and 47 jewels- a truly top-of-the-range feat of engineering.

What's on offer

There are two microscopic surface marks on the case back which can be seen when reflected in the light (as shown in photos), but these are the only signs of wear on the watch that can be spotted even under a jeweller's loupe. For all intents and purposes, this is almost a brand new watch which has had little or no wear.

The bracelet, case, glass and dial are all pristine. The watch is supplied with all original paperwork and boxes, which includes the watch's international transferable 5-year warranty (dated February 2020). The watch is also supplied with a Hirsch black leather band which gives the watch another dimension and look when swapped out with the bracelet. It will also be supplied with a handmade leather presentation pouch from us.
