c.1917 Sterling .925 Silver Cushion Cased Trench Watch - WW1 Officer's watch

A fine example of form and function working together, this military trench watch from circa 1917 was likely commissioned by a higher-ranking officer for the First World War. Its oversized (32mm) cushion case is remarkably sharp, with the occasional flare of vintage character where it has faintly tarnished on the case around the glass. It has fixed wire lug bars (cannot be removed from the watch), a feature sought after by military personnel due to the added security on the battlefield.

The unmarked enamel dial, we hope you'll agree, is stunning. Crowned by a red '12', typical of trench watches of this era, its radium-filled arabic numerals have turned into a dusky tropical colour, and faded around 5 and 7 and 8. This is also where the continuous seconds subregister sits, which is read by a steel hand. The vintage cathedral hands have aged in a similar manner, taking on a warm, creamy tone between their lume sections, adding to the vintage character without detracting from the watch's legibility and functionality.

A stunning watch with military history which has aged just how you'd want it to and because of its shape and size it wears and looks really well on the wrist!
