1977 Seiko Chronograph Automatic ‘Bullhead’ reference 6138-0040 – Blue dial (AV029)

The highly collectable member of the Seiko 5 model range, the Bullhead was produced with suitability to active wear and extremely accurate timekeeping central to the design brief. Having received the official timekeeper status for the 1964 Tokyo Summer Olympic games, Seiko’s Bullhead model comes at an undeniable golden era in the watchmaker’s history. The watch is distinguished by the iconic placement of chronograph pushers at the top of the watch case, which were so placed to avoid accidental operation during active wear.

This particular model is believed to be an April 1977 production piece in the blue dial variant (AV029). Production of these watches ended in 1979, making this a later piece and in better condition for it. The bracelet has seen wear, as is typically expected from the Bullhead due to its heavier weight and proud height off the wrist. That aside, the watch is in great condition and would make a very honest addition to any collector’s set. Recently serviced for us by our watchmaker.
