A Superb and rare dial colour! 1983 Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust Ref.16014 with a solid white gold fluted bezel and a near full set of box, papers, chronometer certificate, spare links, purchase receipt, service history and pressure check and seal by qualified watchmaker.

This is a stunning, honest example of the classic Rolex Datejust 16014. Featuring a solid white gold fluted bezel, a very unusual, stunning and rare to find, dark mauve dial and the iconic Jubilee bracelet, there's no wonder that these watches have earned themselves such a name. The stainless steel pencil hands contrast beautifully with the dark dial and bright bezel, making for a bold, refined timepiece which stands out without overstating.

A 36mm case makes the watch wear beautifully and, thankfully with this piece, the bracelet is in excellent condition with very minimal signs of wear or stretch to be spoken of. Another plus point is that the (near) full set of box and papers comes with a spare link. The solid white gold fluted bezel is what really sets this watch design apart from the crowds though; the Rolex touch, if you will. The screw-down crown at 3:00 is a great feature to give you peace-of-mind whilst using the watch in wet conditions. The date aperture, also at 3:00, features a magnifying cyclops for improved date legibility.

All of this is powered by the famous Rolex Caliber 3035 movement. The movement is officially Chronometer certified (COSC) and the original chronometer certificate to prove the watch's accuracy is included here. This was Rolex's first movement to feature a 'high beat' rate: increasing the beats per minute from 19,800 to 28,800 BPH (or 8 beats a second) allowed them to perform to incredible timekeeping standards. Fortunately, the movement is also 'hacking': all hands stop when the crown is pulled out to allow for precise synchronisation with external time sources.

What's on offer

The case, dial, glass, bracelet, crown hands and movement are all in pretty impeccable condition. In terms of wear, for a 1983 watch, we honestly believe that this is about as good a condition as can be expected. The watch was officially resealed and tested to 100m depth by a professional watchmaker in October 2014, proof of which will be included. The watch also received a full movement service in 2014, for which a 12-month warranty (included for reference purposes) was provided at the time.

Furthermore, the watch's (almost entire) original documentation is included; only the shop's plastic 'swing tags' which were attached to new watches for retail are missing. The COSC chronometer certificate, the Rolex Oyster instruction booklet, inner display box and outer protective box, purchase receipt scan, Rolex pressure test guarantee and service receipt are all included.
