In 1900, a watch company under the name of M. Gunzinger-Hug was founded by Melchior Gunzinger at Welschenrohr in the Swiss Jura canton of Solothurn, Switzerland. The firm started manufacturing wristwatches in 1918 and in 1920, the watch manufacturing facility passed to Melchior's son, Joseph Gunziger, and became, “Gunzinger Bros Ltd” (Gunzinger Frères SA). Joseph Gunzinger registered the trademark, “Technos,” in 1924, at the same time launching that brand as an individual company title, Technos SA.

What’s On Offer

This Skydiver from Technos is a rare find, we immediately fell in love with it as soon as we saw it. Especially with the oversized tonneau case and zesty orange dial, it really pops and stands out as you will no doubt see from the photos. A substantial watch, that's probably over-engineered so this beast comes in at 46mm wide and 17mm deep - it's certainly not shy on the wrist, however, it is surprisingly comfortable to wear and we can testify to this having worn it for a few days, until just before it went for photos! It was a wrench taking it off as the more we look at it the more we love it!

The dial is in fantastic order with applied hour plots, chunky sword hands boasting original lume, central seconds, and a day/date aperture at 3 o'clock (Days in Portuguese), which perhaps could be changed to another language but we preferred to leave it.

The deep set dial is encapsulated underneath the mineral glass and sports a 60-minute rotating steel bezel on a spring ratchet system with a rich black bakelite insert, which is in fantastic condition. A charismatic dive watch hailing from the 1970s with a real retro feel - it runs well and keeps good time, a rare vintage dive watch with some serious engineering, this Technos is simply up there with the best 1000m divers and would be a very credible addition to any collection. We love it!
