Produced by a number of world-class Swiss watchmakers, including Longines and Jaeger LeCoultre as well as Omega, 6B/159 models were issued to both navigators and RAF pilots during World War II however Omega was the primary supplier of watches to the RAF. Before radar and GPS, timekeeping was crucial when it came to the position of the aircraft and it was up to the aircraft navigators to provide accurate information.

This rare and very collectable watch is in wonderful condition which is remarkable considering its age! The once-white dial has aged beautifully to a pale sepia colour and boasts the usual Arabic numerals that are synonymous with most military watches. A simple Omega signature and elegant blued steel hands complete the dial which is encapsulated underneath shatterproof acrylic crystal and encased in alloy duralumin.

It should be noted that this watch has a steel case, which is very unusual as in the main the cases were crafted from much cheaper alloy duralumin so it is very rare to find an ultra-early one like this - we only know of a couple in circulation.
