***NOW SOLD***A Stunning Lemania Single Pusher Asymmetric Case, Mk III, Caseback Reference: 6BB/924-3306 1860/65, Caliber LMC 2220, Inside Caseback 35-72 Issued: 1965. Excellent condition, a Real Historical Gem.

Lemania has a rich history of producing military timepieces and this reference is one of the most iconic - the quintessential pilot chronograph. Produced for little more than 20 years, from the 50s to the early 70s, and in low quantities, they are now much sought after.

Featuring a mono-pusher mechanism based on the Lemania 2220 movement, the substantial proportions, jet black dial, and tritium lumed syringe hands provide superb legibility and the beefy asymmetric case offers a contemporary aesthetic.

The dial displays the broad arrow sign, used to indicate the property of the British Military, and the 'T' sign, indicating the presence of tritium on the dial and hands. The caseback is engraved “6BB” (Royal Airforce code), “924-3306” (type of watch), “1860” (service number), and “65” (released in 1965).

Lemania was a supplier to various militaries and official agencies, their watches (or sometimes movements only) were provided to Czechoslovakia, France, Sweden, Rhodesia, and Australia amongst others, and they were one of the various companies complying with the rigorous post-WWII British requirements for issued watches. With such a rich military bloodline, Lemania's military chronographs were sure to be exceptional pieces.

What’s On Offer

The present watch was issued by the British RAF in 1965 and features a unique asymmetric polished stainless steel case that provides some protection to the crown and pusher. The matte black dial is in impeccable condition and the lume on the hour markers has aged to a beautiful deep chocolate colour. The syringe hands have aged well with lume intact.

The outer rail track, Arabic numerals signatures, and synonymous arrow markings are all very sharp and with the subdials at 3 and 9 o'clock, complete a very handsome dial.

The unpolished case is in truly remarkable condition bearing in mind the watch's age and its intended use, and the substantial dimensions make for a contemporary wearing watch with the additional asset of being steeped in history from a renowned watchmaker world-famous for its military ties.
