***ON HOLD for CH***A Nice Example of a Buren Dirty Dozen, Army Issued Watch, with Beautiful Vanilla Lume.  Finished with a NATO Strap, A Real Collector's Piece!

In the closing years of World War II, a basic but carefully specified model wristwatch was commissioned for members of the British armed forces by the Ministry of Defence - manufactured by one of twelve watchmakers who delivered the pieces in 1944 and 1945. These manufacturers (Buren, Cyma, Eterna, Grana, JLC, Lemania, Longines, IWC, Omega, Record, Timor, and Vertex) later came to be known as ‘The Dirty Dozen’ in the mid-1960s, after the release of the popular war film of the same name. Out of the circa 150,000 watches delivered, only circa 11,000 Buren branded watches were produced.

What's On Offer:

A superb example of the Buren member of the Dirty Dozen family, with a stark black dial which offsets the beautiful vanilla lume perfectly and is particularly eye-catching on the sword hands - still glowing under UV light! The Buren signature and broad arrow are well preserved and still look sharp, as does the sub-seconds dial.

The robust chrome topped 36.5mm case shows light wear but nothing significant and is not bad at all considering the age of the watch. This is a real collector's piece and has a significant place in horological history, the Buren “Dirty Dozen” is well known and much sought after by serious military collectors. Finished with a NATO strap, this watch really comes to life. Having been recently serviced by our master watchmaker, this watch comes to you in superb condition, running well and keeping good time.
