A Rare Vintage, 18ct Gold, Rolex Oyster Perpetual Day-Date Dress Watch with Black Dial - Ref. 1803 - c. 1969

The Rolex Day-Date first made its debut in 1956. Available only in 18ct gold or Platinum, it was the first wrist watch Chronometer to display both the date and the day of the week, spelt out in full in windows on the dial.

This luxury men’s Rolex Oyster Perpetual Day-Date dress watch with a stunning 18ct yellow gold case dates back to 1969, with four figure reference 1803 and serial number 217xxxx.

The piece has a black stepped dial, making it a rarer and more sought after example of the model than the more common champagne and silver dials.

The watch features a day window at 12 o’clock and a date bubble at 3 o’clock, with gold indexes and hands and a fluted bezel.

Powered by a Rolex 1556 calibre Chronometer Certified automatic movement with 23 jewels, the watch is in full working order and only recently serviced by our horologist, ready for both everyday wear and formal occasions - a luxurious addition to any vintage watch collection.

What’s On Offer

Here we have a stunning dress watch on a luxury leather strap which is adjustable in size and closes with a gold plated Rolex pin buckle.

The piece is in great overall condition and has been lightly and professionally polished.

It will be supplied with both a Vintage Watch Specialist leather pouch and a Rolex service pouch.
