Neo-Vintage 1990 Rolex Submariner Date Model 16610 in excellent condition with Mark 1 Tritium Dial

The Rolex Submariner made its debut at the Basel Watch Fair in 1953. It was one of the first dive watches designed for underwater exploration and became an instant classic. The original reference, the Rolex Submariner 6204, featured a rotating bezel with minute markers for timing dives, a black dial with luminous hour markers, and a water resistance of 100 meters (330 feet).

Rolex continued to refine the Submariner, introducing improvements such as increased water resistance and the addition of crown guards to protect the winding crown. The Submariner reference 6538, famously worn by James Bond in several early films, became one of the most iconic versions of the watch.

In the 1980s, Rolex introduced the Submariner 16610, which featured a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal and an updated movement. Subsequent years saw the introduction of various materials, including the use of 904L stainless steel, gold, and ceramic bezels. The Submariner has undergone numerous updates and revisions over the years while maintaining its iconic design and status as one of the world's most recognisable luxury dive watches.

This stainless steel submariner has been kept in excellent condition since its release over 20 years ago. The iconic design features an exceptional brushed steel finish. Light signs of wear and blemishes can be found around the case and bracelet but is overall in good condition.

The unidirectional bezel ties in nicely with the solid black dial, white lume plots and Mercedes hands. Very slight markings can be seen on the bezel. This watch features the Mark 1 tritium dial, which you can identify by the Swiss - T < 25 markings located at the bottom of the dial. This particular dial containing tritium will develop a lovely patina colour with age and adds great character to the watch. The sleek 40mm case design is extremely comfy and feels great on the wrist.

Internally there is the highly reliable Rolex calibre 3135 movement with 31 jewels and a lengthy power reserve of 48 hours. Overall this Rolex is an exceptional model and I would highly recommend it.
